
About Jack.
Jack F. Murphy is an NYC-based, Wisconsin-bred performing artist and educator, equally at home in the worlds of opera, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial styles. Recent engagements include his second season at Ohio Light Opera as a Resident Professional Artist, with titles including Guys and Dolls (Sky Masterson), The Count of Luxembourg (Count Rene of Luxembourg), Me and My Girl (Gerald Bolingbroke) and The Arcadians (Sir George Paddock), among others. Murphy also performed at the legendary Radio City Music Hall and Yankee Stadium in May 2024 as a part of the commencement ceremonies for New York University.
Other performance credits include Titanic: The Musical (Fleet/Guggenheim/Carlson, Ismay (u/s)), Street Scene in concert (Sam Kaplan), both directed by Broadway veteran Ted Sperling, Idomeneo (Idomeneo), all at NYU Steinhardt, and Hair (Claude) with Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. Murphy was also part of the NYU workshop of Benjamin Halstead and Joey Contreras’s new musical, Heartbreakers in Hell (The Glutton/Sky), directed by Broadway's Hunter Bird.
Murphy has performed at several renowned NYC venues, from The Green Room 42, The Cutting Room, and Don't Tell Mama to David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, where he performed as a part of the grand reopening ceremonies in the fall of 2022 with the New York Philharmonic. He is an award-winning singer, with accolades including "Best Performer in a Musical" through BroadwayWorld Hawaii and consecutive first-place titles at the New York City, Wisconsin, and Eastern Region NATS Competitions for categories spanning classical to musical theatre to pop/rock styles.
​In addition to his work as a singing actor, Jack is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, music educator, and church musician. Jack also regularly performs and tours with multiple bands across the Midwest, including Murphy’s Law, a rock group he shares with his two brothers. Additionally, he is a songwriter with his brother Michael, working under the moniker “hewitt.” Their debut album, “Of Days and Nights,” is now available on all streaming platforms!​
He received a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance (Music Theatre)/Vocal Pedagogy from New York University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Lawrence University. His life's vocation is to connect and educate through the performing arts, making the world a more joyful and brighter place.
